First Day At 100 Church St

Daniel At Work On The Deck.. note the guy in orange high up in our tree pruning away!!!!

Kelley and Daniel closed on 100 Church St. B&B on October 1st at 1 p.m. and made their future first floor study their home away from home for the construction, cleaning and painting months of October and November. Kelley worked so very hard in the first 36 hours that most of her body aches. Daniel and Kelley love it here in Stratford with the sun shining and fall easing gently into Ontario The house is reeling from their “TLC!”

In his first 36 hours, Daniel tore the side deck off, tore down the raggedy work shed in back, moved the compost soil thingy, detached four of the kitchen cabinets for temporary storage, pulled out hot tub decking, and  removed the ugly aluminum front storm door. Now there are two big piles of scrap wood, but neatly stacked!

Kelley gardened all day, filling 5 huge bags (ivy is not her friend and is perhaps half done with the front yard), thoroughly cleaned the rooms they will be using during renovations, got the tree guy to show up to prune and he worked MAJOR miracles, removed many screws from the walls, found the grocery store to make breakfast, lunches and dinners here and will buy armies of mums today to spruce up the outside for a website pic. Oh yeah, almost set the place on fire by changing a light bulb in an old light fixture…our fire alarms and emergency lites work really well!

We love it here, but need to pace ourselves a bit. Today we are hoping the brick cleaners show up, to complete the outside refurbishments. And we go look at Granite slabs in Kitchner for the new kitchen counters, as well as taking all the kitchen counters and cabinets out so Daniel can remove all kitchen flooring over the weekend whilst I am in Montreal.

The floor guys show up on Monday morning to install reclaimed maple flooring in the kitchen and to refinish all wooden floors.

We are always so excited to start our next Stratford plans the minute we finish with the current one! We are looking forward to meeting you and appreciate all you are doing to make us feel welcome. We also can’t wait to see your work on the house. It’s wonderful to know that the house we have looked to as our home away from home is in your heart as well.
