Of all the different varieties of Quartz, Rose Quartz tends to be the one that is most loved and well known. The pink to rose red color is completely unique and is unlike any other pink mineral species. Its colour comes from small impurities, iron and titanium, that were present during the period that the Quartz was forming.
Other colourful varieties of Quartz that have their own impurities are:
•Amethyst is the purple gemstone variety.
•Citrine is a yellow to orange gemstone variety that is rare in nature but is often created by heating Amethyst.
•Milky Quartz is the cloudy white variety.
•Prasiolite is the leek-green variety.
•Rock crystal is the clear variety that is also used as a gemstone.
•Smoky Quartz is the brown to gray variety
Many of us have fond distant memories of having or holding a favourite stone or pebble, perhaps, even carrying one with us in a pocket for a period of time or maybe placing it on a shelf containing other worldly possessions. Often being one of the first stones that someone will buy for themselves (or others), Rose Quartz is quite recognizable. Rose Quartz was part of my collection as a boy as were many other mysteriously coloured stones. Though not so mysterious now, Rose Quartz still remains a cherished crystal for myself. Its inherent property of unconditional love helps to open the heart chakra to all forms of love: self-love, family love, platonic love, and romantic love.
When Kelley and I married we placed a large piece of Rose Quartz on a table at the entrance where the ceremony was to take place and asked everyone to touch it and share the love that was emanating from it. We have been told by many there that they have never experienced a ceremony where love, laughter and joy flowed so easily. The high energy (vibration) of Quartz gives Rose Quartz the property of enhancing love in virtually any situation. In turn, this lowers stress. All in all, it is a very soothing and happy stone.
Rose Quartz supports the emotions and helps us to develop a sense of self -esteem. It resonates most strongly with the heart chakra and helps us heal from the emotional wounds most of us experience in life. With Rose Quartz the pain is eased over time and we can start to comprehend the deeper lessons of our experiences and grow in compassion for others, using our own experience to develop empathy.
Emotionally, Rose Quartz brings gentleness, forgiveness, compassion, kindness and tolerance. It helps balance emotions and heal emotional wounds and traumas, even grief, bringing peace and calm. Rose Quartz removes fears, resentments and anger. It can also heal and release childhood traumas, neglect, and lack of love, in part by enhancing inner awareness. It can help with reconciliation with family and others. Overwhelming or unreasonable guilt is eased by rose quartz.
For Kelley and I, here, at 100 Church, we have brought the energy of Rose Quartz into our home; your place of stay. We hope that you too will enjoy the subtle energies associated with Rose Quartz as we do.
Remember to respect your Rose Quartz. More than any other crystal, it teaches the lesson that all emotional wounds can be healed, and that the source of love comes from “within”.
The Stone of Manifestation
The mineral Citrine belongs to the Quartz Group of minerals. Its yellow pigmentation being derived from iron contained in the crystal. Varying amounts of iron change the colour to pale yellow, to orange, to sometimes even a brownish hue. Much of the commercial Citrine on the market today is actually heat-treated Amethyst. Natural Citrine can be found but it is becoming more of a rarity to find it in the retail market.
Imagination, as Einstein said, is more important than knowledge. Knowledge refers to facts, conditions or principles already known and is thus rooted in the past. Through knowledge alone there can be repetition only, no creativity. The creativity of human beings, and all beings are rooted in imagination. Citrine, in both the natural and heated forms, stimulates imagination through three portals, the second, third and sixth chakras. The vibratory resonance of Citrine activates and harmonizes these three energy centers, all of which are necessary to the process of creative imagination.
Citrine opens the inner doors to increased clarity of thought, enhanced creativity and magnified powers of will and manifestation. Citrine is one of the premier stones for the second chakra and is capable of wakening the powers of creative imagination in even the most unconscious individuals. Through the second chakra, Citrine stimulates the creative function, the wellspring from which new potentials are born. It is fitting that this chakra is also the sexual center, the source of both types of ‘conceptions’, imaginal and biological.
Through the third chakra, the solar plexus, Citrine generates the human dynamo of personal will. It is said that great accomplishments are one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. The energy that sustains one through the grunt work of manifesting one’s creative ideas is that of will. Without this third component ideas can fizzle out before they come to fruition. Citrine strengthens the third chakra, and through that, one can more readily dig down and find the persistence to ‘make it happen’.
Through the sixth chakra, the third eye, Citrine activates the thinking process and enhances mental clarity, as well as the visionary function through which inner images appear. After all, imagination is in essence the process of image making. Until one has the image, one cannot build the invention.
Being of the Quartz Group of minerals, Citrine works synergistically with many stones, and one can choose combinations based on where one feels the need to add (or multiply) additional energy.
Much of our experience on the Earth plane is gained from out attempts to transform our dreams and wished into physical tangibility. This is the process of manifestation, creating form or experience from the energetic blueprints of our thoughts, beliefs and desires. Citrine is our foremost ally in the process of manifestation. While stimulating our second and third chakras, the vibration of Citrine initiates our creative energy and our will, and increases our ability to bring energy into form. Citrine enables us to open more fully to the energy of Divine Will and the path of love. By resonating with Citrine, we are reminded that we are loved and supported by the Universe in our efforts towards manifestation. When one chooses the path of love and joy, opening to the power of Divine Will, Citrine supports us in bringing forth what is truly beautiful.
Scientifically speaking, a gemologist might describe Moonstone as being an opalescent variety of Orthoclase with an “adularescence luster”.
That’s a lot of terminology for something that the rest of us might simply say has a translucent or pale luster. Popular names for Moonstone are Water Opal, Fish Eye, and Wolf’s-Eye. These names seem more likely when looking at a polished form of Moonstone as it has a white sheen, or “schiller” to it, rather like the shine of the Moon…. hence it’s name. Another gemstone that is commonly called Rainbow Moonstone is really more properly identified as a (colourless) form of Labradorite.
Long considered to be the “stone of new beginnings”, Moonstone has a lengthy history with ancient cultures. It was closely connected to the waxing and waning of the Moon as love charms were made and fortunes were told during these periods.
Moonstone vibrates with feminine wisdom and Goddess energy…a protective gemstone; it honors the Goddess in all women. It helps to strengthen intuition and psychic perception and brings balance and harmony with the All. For true seekers of higher spiritual development and wisdom, moonstone will open the gateway to the subconscious; at the same time it will not permit entrance by any who are not ready for the experience. This is another way that protection and balance come into play.
“Want” and “Need” do not come from the same place. Moonstone can assist you in adsorbing those things that are “needed” in life while helping you discern what is merely “wanted”.
This stone is recommended for farmers and gardeners, artists, dancers and is also a great stone for Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, and other Health Care Workers, who sometimes feel they must repress much of what they feel in order to function more effectively, at the expense of gentleness that comes with empathy and compassion. Young men can find this gemstone invaluable as it helps balance the male ego and emotions during this age.
Archangel Gabriel is the angel of the moon who brings man the gift of hope. He is the spirit of truth and the prince of justice. He is the alchemy of psychic gifts, intuition, and receptivity.
The Ruler of Monday, psychic gifts, intuition, visions, magic, clairvoyance, scrying, astral travel, herbal medicine, the cycles of women, and female aspects of men.
His symbols are the lily and the trumpet,
and his stone…
